First, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who participated in my celebration give-away. My facebook page gained many ‘likes’ during the contest and I am now over 400 likes! Thank you so much!!!
And now, what you have all been waiting for — the winner! Luanne Kallungi Skrenes. Congratulations Luanne!!! Please contact me so we can talk about what you have won — either a free portrait sitting or the free 11 X 14. You could use it for yourself or as a gift. I am excited to work with you on this!
The picture I shared tonight is one of the many that Luanne shared during the contest. I love taking frost pictures, but this one is not my typical frost picture. I typically use a macro lens to do my frost pictures, but I got an assignment that week to shoot with one focal length. Since I usually shoot with a fixed focal length lens anyway, I really wanted to challenge myself. I love taking frost pictures, so I thought I would change things up a little. I decided to use my fisheye lens!! And I really like the image that I captured.
One of the first things people notice about this shot — me included — is the heart in the frost. I thought that was really cool. But I also like the way the tree branches are branching out of the frost and going across the whole image. It is like they are an extension of the heart. (Which, in actuality, they are, as the heart is kind of the shadow of the tree.)
Sometimes it is a good thing to step outside of your comfort zone. Glad I did for this shot!

Couldn’t have gone to a nicer person…she will LOVE IT
